Intercultural Awareness Through English Language Teaching: The Case of Kosovo

Abstract This study seeks to understand opportunities for teaching and learning the target culture intercultural awareness. Utilizing Moran’s Knowing Framework (2001) its five cultural dimensions, reviewing curriculum documents English textbook in use Grade Six Kosovo, finds a misalignment among regarding understanding. It is noted that while share goals objectives preparing students become global citizens through language language, this vision lost along way rarely makes it classrooms. concluded teachers, Kosovo potentially internationally, need be more creative utilizing authentic materials their classes bring life culture. Lastly, argued about another comparing with one’s own helps examine from different perspective, which turn culturally-richer individuals deeper closer touch as well cultures around them, near far.
